Prestwich man became overnight millionaire thanks to his strange lottery ticket habit

He scooped £1 million on the National Lottery EuroMillions Millionaire Maker in the draw held on April 10, 2026.

The lucky winner matched the winning raffle code.

His win came thanks to a long-standing habit of buying five Lucky Dip tickets from five different shops each time he played.

The Prestwich winner, who remains anonymous, said: “I am still in disbelief as I never had this amount of luck and now my future is sorted.”

He plans to use the dosh to buy a property abroad.

Caroline Talbot, winners’ advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: “Congratulations to our lucky Prestwich winner.

“What a fantastic way to become a millionaire.

“We wish him the best time in his new property abroad.”

Players can purchase and check tickets online using the National Lottery app or at national-lottery.co.uk.

Tickets can also be bought and checked in retail stores.

Tickets purchased online are automatically checked, and winners receive an email notification.

Retail tickets can be scanned in the National Lottery app to verify any winnings.

Every National Lottery game also supports good causes across the UK.

Each week, around £33 million is raised for National Lottery-funded projects.

Since its launch, more than £53 billion has been generated for good causes, supporting projects in every postcode area.

Funding helps the arts, sport, community groups, and the preservation of iconic British landmarks.
