Lottery ticket winner waits over eight weeks for $2,000 prize

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A Fresno couple had to wait eight weeks to claim their $2,000 lottery prize from the California State Lottery.
On March 13th, Nicholas Wilcken bought a $ 20 “red carpet riches” lottery scratch-off.
Moments later, Nicholas and his wife Amanda, celebrated winning $2,000.
Unlike your $10 – $50 wins, for prizes this big, you have to go to the local lottery office to cash it in.
After winning on a Friday, Nicholas went to show his winning ticket the following Monday.
The wait’s been frustrating and maddening.
After multiple attempts to call, email, and even direct message.
The California state lottery representative read their message, but the Wilckens did not receive any help.
We reached out to the California State Lottery for the long wait.
We received this response, where a spokesperson said they could not talk about prizes with third parties, but gave the information for the couple to use to contact them again.
The same number they had been trying to use for weeks.
After we contacted the California State Lottery, Nickolas Wilcken called again, but this time a representative answered with good news.
His check is printed and is on the way.
