Winning lottery ticket bought in Brunswick County remains unclaimed

If you’ve been holding onto a lottery ticket purchased in Brunswick County, you may have a winner.

The North Carolina Education Lottery is encouraging any lottery players who’ve played the Lucky for Life game to double check their ticket. According to a news release from the organization, a winning ticket was purchased at the E-Z Way Grocery on North Howe Street in Southport in the Dec. 27, 2025, drawing. As of 9 a.m. on June 18, the prize remained unclaimed.

The ticket matched the numbers on five white balls to win the prize. The winning numbers for the drawing were: 8-12-24-26-42-17.

If you have a Lucky for Life ticket sitting around somewhere, you’ll want to act fast — the ticket is set to expire on Thursday, June 25.

“Search everywhere you keep your tickets and double-check any you have to see if you hold the winning ticket,” said Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the N.C. Education Lottery. “We hope that whoever purchased this ticket comes forward to claim the prize soon so we can celebrate the big win.”

The odds of matching five white balls in a Lucky For Life drawing are 1 in 1.8 million.

To claim the prize, the ticket must be presented at lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 25. This deadline ends the 180-day period for winners to claim prizes from the Dec. 27 drawing.
