West Warwick man claims $2 million winning Powerball ticket

A West Warwick man has claimed the $2 million winning Powerball ticket from the April drawing.

The Rhode Island Lottery said the ticket was from the April 29 drawing.

The ticket matched five numbers, but not the Powerball number to win the standard payout of $1 million.

However, the winner added the Power Play feature, which doubled the prize.

The winner said he is a weekly Powerball player.

He said he did not know his ticket was a winner until days later.

When he called his wife to tell her the news, she thought he was joking.

The winner said he plans to split the winnings and use them to pay bills.

Officials said the ticket was sold at Seasons Corner Market at 1783 Old Louisquisset Pike.
