Tourist wins $10 million jackpot with $5 bet just minutes after arriving at Vegas casino – AOL
A tourist from Atlanta is leaving Las Vegas with a staggering $10 million prize after playing a slot machine for less than five minutes.
The lucky guest, who has not been publicly named, was playing the IGT Megabucks Wolf Run Eclipse slot machine at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino on Tuesday morning, according to a press release from the hotel.
After only three minutes of playing with a $5 wager, the visitor won the multimillion-dollar jackpot of $10,292,912.32.
“Las Vegas is built on unforgettable moments, and it doesn’t get much more memorable than turning a $5 bet into more than $10 million,” Cami Christensen, President and General Manager of Westgate Las Vegas, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled for our guest from Atlanta and love seeing these legendary stories happen at Westgate.”
The Georgia-based resident celebrated the jackpot with fellow guests and casino team members while the news spread across the resort, according to the press release. The win also marked one of the largest slot jackpots awarded at Westgate Las Vegas.

Many lucky players have hit huge jackpots at Las Vegas casinos over the years. On Christmas Eve in 2020, a gambler, who was only identified by the name Kevin, won the $15,491,103 Megabucks Progressive Jackpot while playing a slot machine at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino after putting just $40 into the machine.
Higher bets have also led to massive winnings in Las Vegas. Last year, one visitor at the Circa Resort & Casino put down $250 at a Dragon Link slot machine and walked away with $1 million.
Users were quick to congratulate the mysterious winner on Facebook at the time, with one person claiming that players frequently win big at the casino. “Wow, Circa has been paying out million-dollar jackpots like candy,” they wrote.
In March 2025, a lucky player, only identified as James, took home a jackpot worth $1,016,145.14 while playing on the Dollar Storm slot machine at the same casino, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He had placed a $2 bet.
The biggest ever slots win took place in March 2003, when a 25-year-old software engineer from Los Angeles won $39.7 million playing the Megabucks slot machine at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino.
The chances of winning big on slot machines are low, with a one-in-5,000 to one-in-about-34-million chance of taking home the top prize with a maximum coin play.
There has been a nationwide increase in the number of people playing the slots this past year. A June report from the American Gaming Association found that revenue from slot machines and table games increased by more than five percent from the previous year.
