Someone from Prestwich has won £1M on the National Lottery

The winner now plans to purchase a holiday home abroad

A lucky player from Greater Manchester has scooped a life-altering £1,000,000 National Lottery prize and is now ‘in disbelief’ about his big win.

The winner, from Prestwich, secured the National Lottery’s Millionaire Maker prize, which guarantees one player will win £1m in every EuroMillions draw – which take place every Tuesday and Friday.

The Prestwich resident matched the winning raffle code on April 10, 2026, and says that he always buys five Lucky Dips, using five different shops each time – a habit that has now paid off in spectacular style.

He says he now plans to put his prize towards buying a property abroad.

Speaking on his win, he said, “I am still in disbelief as I never have this amount of luck and now my future is sorted!”

Caroline Talbot, Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, congratulated the Prestwich-based prize winner, saying, “Congratulations to our lucky Prestwich winner. What a fantastic way to become a millionaire!

“We wish him the best time in his new property abroad.”

It comes after the National Lottery made a major change to the way its Lotto game works. In the new system, players now have two chances to win for every £2 line.

The twice-weekly Lotto draws, held every Wednesday and Saturday at 8pm, now follow a two-round format, with two sets of six main numbers and a bonus ball drawn using two separate machines.

This means players can win in one round, the other or both, all from a single Lotto line.

On the change, Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, said: “This is a huge moment for players as we enter a new era for the nation’s millionaire maker, Lotto.

“From now on, every ticket gives you two chances to win for the same £2 price. We’re talking more winners, more excitement and hundreds more millionaires made every year. It really could be you – not once, but twice.”

Chris and Geraldine Bradley, from Carmarthenshire, Wales, won £3.5 million in 2006 and feature in the National Lottery’s It Could Be You ad.

They said: “We know first-hand just how life-changing a Lotto win can be. That’s why this new format is so exciting – giving players two chances to win from a single ticket means more opportunities for that same incredible moment.

“It’s fantastic to see even more people getting the chance to become millionaires. We won with our family syndicate, and there is nothing like the feeling of becoming a big winner.”
