Revealed: The one Aussie state making the most overnight lottery millionaires

In the 11 months ending November 30, there were 479 division one winning entries from all lottery games delivering more than $1.5 billion in prize money, according to fresh data published by The Lott. 

Victoria had the most division one wins with 142 however, New South Wales took home the most prize money – more than $468 million.

Not one, but two $100 million jackpots were won in New South Wales this year, and more millionaires were made in the state – 76 – compared to Victoria at 75.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said the wins were not limited to major cities.

“We did see some pockets across the country welcome more prizes than others,” he said in a statement.

“But it wasn’t just the big capital cities that saw the big wins in 2025, with many regional and remote areas also basking in the good fortune.”

Mr Hart said some players deliberately picked lottery outlets that had recently sold big winning tickets in the hope to continue the lucky streak.

“Other players choose different outlets, believing lightning won’t strike twice,” he said.
