Powerball jackpot climbs to $975 million after no winner Monday night

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The Powerball jackpot is closing in on the $1 billion mark after no ticket matched all six numbers in Monday night’s drawing.
The jackpot is now estimated at $975 million for the next drawing Wednesday, Aug. 12, with an estimated cash value of $422.3 million, according to Powerball.com.
Monday night’s winning numbers were 6, 37, 54, 55 and 64. The red Powerball was 10, and the Power Play multiplier was 3X. No ticket matched all five white balls plus the Powerball, allowing the jackpot to roll again.
Even without a jackpot winner, several players walked away with major prizes. One ticket sold in Tennessee matched all five white balls and included the Power Play option, earning $2 million. Tickets sold in California and Maryland matched all five white balls for $1 million prizes.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play in most participating jurisdictions. Players choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from 1 to 26. Power Play can be added for an additional $1 and multiplies most non-jackpot prizes, while a Match 5 ticket with Power Play pays $2 million.
The jackpot continues to grow until a ticket matches all five white balls and the red Powerball. A jackpot winner can choose between an annuity paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years or a lump-sum cash payment. Both advertised amounts are before federal and applicable jurisdictional taxes.
