A very lucky lottery player in the Hudson Valley has officially cashed in big after buying a second-prize winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million in Dutchess County.
Back in March, we learned that a $1 million winning ticket for the Monday, March 16th, 2026 Powerball drawing was sold at a deli in Dutchess County, NY. At the time, the New York Lottery wasn’t sure who the lucky winner was, but now we finally know who’s holding the life-changing ticket.

Man Wins $1 Million Powerball Prize in Poughkeepsie, NY
According to the New York Lottery, Stephen Masten of Poughkeepsie, NY, has stepped forward to claim the winning ticket from the March 16th Powerball drawing. Masten’s ticket matched all five white ball numbers, missing only the red Powerball number, which secured the game’s second-place prize worth an incredible $1 million.

The winning numbers drawn that night were 7, 10, 20, 47, 52, with the Powerball number 22.
Poughkeepsie Deli Sells Million Dollar Powerball Ticket
Lottery officials confirmed that the lucky ticket was purchased at South Gate Deli & Grocery, located at 1 South Gate Drive off of Route 9 in Poughkeepsie. Since news first broke that the winning ticket was sold there, many local residents were wondering who the mystery winner was and if they had already come forward to claim the prize.

Instead of choosing the annuity option with yearly payments, Masten decided to take the lump sum cash payout. After required taxes and withholdings, he walked away with a one-time payment totaling $651,000.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. To play, players pick five white ball numbers from 1 through 69 and one red Powerball number from a separate pool of 1 through 26. Each ticket costs $2.
