National Lottery live draws hit prime time on Ghana Television (GTV)

National Lottery Authority shifts draws to GTV to boost transparency, access and nationwide coverage.
Ghana.- Millions of Ghanaians will now be watching the national lottery live in prime time as the National Lottery Authority (NLA) moves its draws from United Television (UTV) to Ghana Television (GTV). The switch brings the draws to the national broadcaster, increasing accessibility and nationwide coverage.
The NLA said: “Effective December 1, 2025, the NLA live Draws will be telecast on Ghana Television (GTV).” Details of the new schedule have also been released. The Authority added: “From Monday to Saturday, the evening Draw, currently broadcast at 7.15pm, will be broadcast at 8.00pm, immediately after GTV’s prime time news.” Sunday draws will remain at 6.00pm, while all other draw schedules stay unchanged, according to the NLA.
The move is part of the NLA’s broader push to modernise operations and enhance transparency. By moving live draws to the national broadcaster, the Authority is increasing accessibility.
Broader lottery oversight
This broadcast shift comes alongside further reforms rolled out in 2025, aimed at strengthening transparency and curbing illegal operations. According to the NLA, all agents and “lotto writers” under private lotto operators must carry a unique identification sticker with a QR code, enabling regulators to distinguish legitimate operators from illegal ones.
In addition, the NLA has announced the deployment of 5,000 new point-of-sale (POS) terminals in partnership with Fidelity Bank. These modern terminals are designed to replace outdated equipment, improve oversight, boost sales and reduce illicit lottery activity.
With these measures, the NLA is signalling a new era of accountability, visibility and nationwide participation, giving Ghanaians greater confidence in the fairness and transparency of their favourite national lottery draws.
