Tonight’s live draw came as Lotto urged Auckland players to recheck their tickets, with a $20m Powerball prize still unclaimed.
The winning ticket was sold at Blockhouse Bay Post Shop & Stationers more than three weeks ago, before the $40m Powerball draw on July 25.
The multimillion-dollar prize will be a life-changing sum for the ticketholder, Lotto NZ’s head of corporate communications Will Hine said.
“We’d love to get the money into the hands of its rightful owner as soon as possible so they can start planning their future.”
Lotto winners have 12 months from the date of the draw to claim their prize.
They usually hear from winners “pretty quickly” after a big prize was drawn, Hine said.
“But, in this case, it seems we need to give the winner a little nudge to check their ticket.”
Anyone who purchased their ticket from Blockhouse Bay Post Shop & Stationers for the July 25 draw should record their name on the back and have it checked as soon as possible, he said.
“We’re looking forward to hearing from the winner. If you think you have the winning ticket, I recommend stopping into one of our stores or giving our customer support team a call so we can help guide you through the next steps.”
The winners of the other half of the $40m jackpot on July 25 were an Auckland couple, who described their lucky break as “feeling like a dream”.
The pair planned to put the $20.1m prize towards paying off their mortgage, buying a new car and helping animals, they said.
