What are the most common numbers on winning Powerball tickets?

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The unprecedented number of Powerball winners last week leads to wondering what numbers appear most often on winning tickets.

The winning numbers on April 29 were: 3, 19, 35, 51 and 67, and 15 for the Powerball. All of the numbers were exactly 16 numbers higher than the previous number.

No one from Western New York was among the 89 winners, but they were still astonished by the results. Unheard of results.

But how can we figure out the numbers that end up on winning tickets the most often?

Yes, there is historical Powerball data to answer that very question, and I was pumped to start analyzing it.

I was surprised – not astonished – by the results.

None of the white ball and Powerball numbers picked last week is among the top 5 that have most frequently appeared on winning tickets since 2015. Go figure.

Below are graphs showing the most-frequent numbers that have appeared on winning tickets.

Keep in mind the order of the numbers is random. In other words, picking the most-frequent numbers would still require they be in the correct order – if all six were even selected from the plastic spheres, which I won’t say is impossible based on the results from last week.

Note that the number 27 tied with 33 and 61 at the fourth place spot.

Note that the number 25 is tied with 18 for the fifth place spot.
