Current Status of U.S. Visa Services By Country – May 2026

New U.S. Presidential Proclamation (effective January 1, 2026)
A nationwide suspension of visa issuance for certain countries took effect on January 1, 2026. As a result, nationals of some countries listed in this tracker may now face a full or partial suspension of new visa issuance, including both immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, under the new policy.

Full suspension (both immigrant and nonimmigrant visas):

- Eritrea
- Haiti
- Iran
- Libya
- Niger
- Somalia
- South Sudan
- Sudan
- Syria
- Yemen
Partial suspension (certain visa categories affected):
- Cuba
- Nigeria
- Venezuela
- Zimbabwe
This policy does not revoke visas that were issued before January 1, 2026. Instead, it affects the issuance of new visas and may limit or suspend processing for certain applicants depending on nationality and visa category.
