Sometimes it pays off to stop and grab a “scratcher” lottery ticket. Lady Luck was on one Western New Yorker’s side when he won $5 million dollars with a New York Lottery scratch-off ticket.
Rochester Man Wins $5 Million Dollars From New York State Lottery
The New York State Lottery announced that Richard Thomas won the top prize of $5 million dollars from their scratch-off game “$5,000,000 Cash Royale.”
Thomas hit the right match and took home the top prize. He elected to take his winnings in a single lump sum payment of $2,239,446, after required withholdings.
The winning ticket was sold at the Wegmans on Empire Blvd in Webster.

After Thomas’ win, there was still one more top prize left with the “$5,000,000 Cash Royale”. You can check the status of all the New York State Lottery’s scratch-off games HERE.
According to the New York State Lottery’s website, there were 8 million-dollar or more winners in the state in the month of April. There have already been two million-dollar or more winners in New York in the month of May.
