£177k lottery prize goes unclaimed after ticket bought in Watford

Despite an extensive search to find the winner, no valid claim was made for the £177,547.30 jackpot which matched the five main numbers and one Lucky Star.

The ticket was purchased in the town in January, with the deadline passing at midnight on Wednesday (July 15).

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, the Watford-based operator of The National Lottery, said, “Despite widespread coverage urging people to check their tickets, the EuroMillions ticket-holder failed to claim their prize before the deadline and has unfortunately missed out on this life-changing win.

“However, the money will now go to Good Causes and add to the £33M raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects. Amazing projects like Cassiobury Park, Electric Umbrella and Random Cafe, all based in or around Watford, have helped make the area a better place to live for everyone.”

Cassiobury Park will get £3,992,800 in National Lottery Funding to improve facilities and restore much of the historic landscape. 

Electric Umbrella is set to receive £199,000 for  social and development opportunities for learning disabled and neurodivergent adults.   

Finally, Random Cafe has received £49,838 to continue their ongoing activities within the community which includes growing the community garden.
