Woman plans beach vacation after $100K lottery win – AOL
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A Mid-Michigan woman is headed to the beach after winning $100,000 playing the lottery.
The woman matched the cards in the Poker Lotto May 16 drawing, the Michigan Lottery said in a Thursday release. The 56-year-old, who opted to remain anonymous, bought her ticket at a liquor store in Ypsilanti.
“I rarely play Poker Lotto, but I bought a ticket while I was at the store just because,” she said in the release.

She said she handed the ticket to her son to see if she won anything, and he told her she’d won $100,000.
“We both started yelling and jumping up and down,” she said. “Since winning, I’ve tried to stay calm because I don’t want to let money change me, but it is pretty exciting to be here claiming $100,000!”
She told the Michigan Lottery she plans on using some of the money to take a trip to Florida. She also plans on using the winnings to pay bills and share with family.
When she visited the Lottery headquarters to claim the prize, she said she was going to buy her plane ticket as soon as she left.
“I don’t think it’s going to fully sink in that I won the lottery until I’m sitting on the beach in Florida in a few days,” she said.
The odds of winning the lottery are slim. For example, there’s a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning the Powerball jackpot and a 1 in 290 million chance of winning the Mega Millions.
