Winning Lotto ticket traced to Irish shop after lucky punter bags huge prize

Players are being urged to check their tickets from Saturday’s Lotto draw to see if they have won the huge prize

An urgent appeal has been issued to Irish Lotto players after one lucky punter scooped a massive five-figure prize in Saturday night’s draw.

Last night’s draw produced a dramatic near miss for one player, who came within touching distance of the staggering €5,915,657 jackpot.

While nobody managed to scoop the top prize, one lucky ticket holder was just a single number away from becoming Ireland’s newest multi millionaire after they matched five of the six main numbers, plus the bonus in Saturday’s main Lotto draw.

While they just narrowly missed out on the jaw-dropping €5.9m jackpot, the Lotto player still has plenty of reason to celebrate as they won a massive consolation prize of €48,618.

The winning numbers called in the Saturday, July 4, Lotto draw were: 6, 17, 18, 27, 38, 42 and the Bonus was 39.

The National Lottery has confirmed that the winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on Thursday, July 2, from Centra Loughville Motors, Lahinch Road, Ennis, Co Clare.

Lotto players in Clare are now being urged to check their tickets from Saturday’s draw to see if they have bagged the huge sum.

National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan said, “What a fantastic weekend surprise for a Lotto player in Co. Clare who is now set to collect €48,618 after matching five numbers and the bonus in Saturday night’s draw.

“We are encouraging all of our players who purchased a Quick Pick ticket at Centra Loughville Motors on Lahinch Road in Ennis to check their tickets carefully today.

“The winning ticketholder should sign the back of their ticket and contact our Prize Claims team so that arrangements can be made for them to collect their prize!”

The Clare ticketholder is advised to sign the back of their ticket and contact the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie. Arrangements will then be made for them to collect their prize at Lottery Headquarters.

Meanwhile, as there was no winner of the €5,915,657 jackpot on offer in last night’s Lotto draw, Wednesday’s jackpot is now set to roll towards an estimated €6.2 million.
