Winning lottery ticket remains unclaimed for $1 million prize

Time is ticking for one incredibly lucky—or incredibly forgetful—lottery player in Austin.
A Powerball ticket worth $1 million remains unclaimed, and it is rapidly approaching its expiration date. If the winner doesn’t step forward soon, that life-changing windfall will legally vanish.
The winning ticket was purchased for the Feb. 2 drawing at the Circle K located at 6107 W. Parmer Lane in Austin.
The ticket successfully matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn—3-8-31-60-65—missing only the red Powerball number (4).
While the official expiration date on the ticket is Saturday, Aug. 1, the reality of the calendar means the winner needs to act even faster depending on how they choose to collect their cash.
-
In-Person Claims: Because lottery offices are closed on weekends, an in-person claim must be made by Friday, July 31, at 5 p.m. local time. Officials urge the winner to check texaslottery.com before heading out, as claim center hours can unexpectedly change.
-
Mail-In Claims: The ticket holder can also choose to mail in the ticket along with a completed claim form. It must be postmarked on or before the Aug. 1 deadline.
In Texas, draw game winners have exactly 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize before forfeiting the money.
If the Aug. 1 deadline passes without a winner, the $1 million won’t go back into the prize pool. Instead, the unclaimed funds will revert to the state to fund programs authorized by the Texas Legislature, such as public education through the Foundation School Fund or veterans’ services via the Fund for Veterans’ Assistance.
