Two more senior Allwyn execs join Australia’s Lottery Corporation
Another round of senior management changes have been completed at The Lottery Corporation, coming two months after a leadership refresh throughout the business.
The Australian company is continuing to adjust in the early years of its existence, having come into being via the 2022 divestment of Tabcorp’s lottery and keno operations, while it is also under the leadership of a relatively new Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Pickup.
Three senior leadership appointments have now been confirmed – James Bickford as General Manager of Group Brand, Sarah Taraporewalla as Chief Technology Officer of Digital, and Andrew Lang as General Manager Commercial of Lotteries.
Both Bickford and Lang are former employees of Allwyn North America, as is CEO Pickup, who was CEO of Allwyn’s Americas division between 2018-2025.
In Bickford’s case, he was a consultant for Allwyn North America and previously worked for Camelot Lottery Solutions, which was acquired by Allwyn in March 2023 – though Bickford had left prior to this.
Lang, meanwhile, was Chief Financial Officer of Allwyn North America from April 2023-June 2026. Prior to taking on the C-level role at Allwyn North America he was Chief Financial Officer of Allwyn, and started his tenure at the company as VP of Finance.
Taraporewalla, meanwhile, was previously Chief Technology Officer for the Asia Pacific region for Thoughtworks, a global technology consultancy firm based in Chicago, Illinois.
“We’re delighted to welcome James, Sarah and Andrew to The Lottery Corporation team,” Pickup remarked. “They are proven leaders in their respective fields and will play key roles in driving our evolution from a lottery operator to a digitally led entertainment platform.
“Their appointments strongly support our intention to continue to modernise our platform for how Australians play today, with a focus on three levers to unlock new growth – product renewal, digital experience uplift, and data and AI.”
The senior leadership appointments come two months after the company announced management changes in line with a broader restructuring. Managers were put in charge of three newly created divisions – Financial and Corporate Services, Strategy, and People and Brand.
It also comes amid some political and regulatory scrutiny of the company in the state of Victoria, however. A 40-year deal inked with the state government has been criticised over a perceived lack of transparency, and the state Auditor General has begun looking into the partnership.
