Two major EuroMillions wins have been claimed within a week at the same tobacconist in the seaside town of Cassis, with players collectively pocketing around €49 million.
The wins took place at La Civette du Port, a small shop in the town centre, which first sold a ticket worth around €48 million, followed days later by another winning slip worth €1 million through the My Million draw.
The odds of winning the EuroMillions jackpot are estimated at roughly one in 140 million, making the double success at the same location an extremely rare statistical event.
The French lottery operator FDJ United highlighted the extraordinary nature of the back-to-back wins, which have drawn attention among local residents and regular customers in the busy port area.
Despite the excitement, officials continue to warn that lottery games remain a form of entertainment with no financial guarantee or expected return.
