$50,000 Powerball ticket sold at Wilmington Harris Teeter

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Powerball player in Wilmington is $50,000 richer after matching four white balls and the Powerball in Saturday night’s drawing, North Carolina Education Lottery officials said.

The winning ticket was sold at the Harris Teeter on Oleander Drive.

The win comes as jackpots climb. Mega Millions and Powerball are offering a combined more than $1.27 billion this week, with Mega Millions at an estimated $707 million and Powerball at an estimated $567 million.

North Carolina also had a Mega Millions winner Friday, July 17. A player matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win $20,000 with a ticket bought at Carlton’s Tanglewood on Clemmons Road in Clemmons, lottery officials said.

“We continue to see North Carolinians win big prizes playing both Mega Millions and Powerball,” Terri Rose, chief brand officer of the N.C. Education Lottery, said in a statement. “It’s important for players to check their tickets carefully after each drawing as there are nine different ways to win.”
