Edgecombe County resident claims $100,000 lottery prize

RALEIGH — Marisol Jimenez Cruz of Battleboro has claimed a $100,000 prize after purchasing a winning $20 Win Big scratch-off ticket.
Jimenez Cruz bought the ticket at Circle H Stores on W. Raleigh Road in Wilson. She claimed her prize Monday, July 6, at North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters. After required federal and state tax withholdings, she received $66,010.
The Win Big scratch-off game launched in October 2024 with three $2 million top prizes and six $100,000 prizes. As of Monday, two $2 million prizes and two $100,000 prizes remained unclaimed.
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Edgecombe County has received $62 million in lottery funding to help pay for school construction projects.
