Powerball is predicted to draw on Wednesday, with an estimated jackpot of $238 million. The Powerball winner would also have the opportunity to take the prize as a cash payout option of $106.1 million (also after taxes) or as an annuity.
The combined Mega Millions and Powerball jackpot amounts of over $630 million represent the available prizes on both consecutive nights of drawings (one night after the other).
Even though both jackpots are still unclaimed, numerous winners have won lower-tier prizes through participating states’ drawings.
An excellent example of a winning lower-tier prize occurred during Monday night’s Powerball draw, where a North Carolina resident matched four white ball numbers and the red Powerball number to win $50,000.
