Someone in Canada just scored a $40M Lotto Max prize | Daily Hive | National

The weekend got off to a life-changing start for one lucky Canadian who won the Lotto Max jackpot, becoming an instant multimillionaire.

The Lotto Max draw took place on Friday, July 26, and the winning numbers were 05, 06, 16, 30, 33, 43, and 51, with bonus 35. Someone managed to match all seven numbers after buying a ticket in Quebec, and the winner will soon be taking home the top prize worth $40 million.

There were no winners for the second prize worth $198,165.20, but 40 lottery players across Canada ended up splitting the third prize, and each one will receive $5,047.90.

There were 40 MaxPlus prizes, each worth $100,000, and six people won. Three of the tickets were sold in Quebec, while the rest were sold in Ontario, Calgary, and Atlantic Canada.

In B.C., no one won the $500,000 Lotto Max Extra Prize, and in Ontario, there were no winners for the $1-million Encore prize.

Don Matheson of Lacombe, Alta., is the most recent Lotto Max jackpot winner, scoring a $15 million prize on June 5 after he started buying tickets just a month before.

The next draw is on Tuesday, June 30, and the prize is worth $10 million.

Another Quebec resident scored big over the weekend.

On Saturday, June 27, the winner managed to win the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball prize worth $1 million after they matched the winning numbers 71583383-01.

Although no one won the $5-million Classic Draw Prize, someone from B.C. did win the second prize worth $218,849.20 after buying their ticket online. A total of 58 people split the third prize, each winning $1,584.40.

No one scored the $500,000 Lotto Max Extra Prize in B.C. or the $1-million Encore prize in Ontario.

The last time someone scored the Gold Ball Jackpot was on Saturday, May 30, when they won $16 million.

The next Lotto 6/49 draw is on Wednesday, July 1, and the jackpot has now climbed to $22 million.
