Powerball Jackpot Hits 856 Million Dollars Ahead Of Saturday Night Drawing

I drive by the State Fairgrounds on I-20 every morning and I get to see the billboard that has the tally for the Powerball and Mega Millions every day. Today, I grinned to see there was no winner in the monster Powerball drawing on Wednesday night.

The prize climbs to $856 million dollars for the Saturday night drawing. The lump sum payout would be $372 million. I am a little bit traumatized today because I forgot to buy a ticket this week. I play the same numbers over and over again. My worst nightmare is that my numbers hit and I didn’t play them. I did check and my numbers were not winners this week. But I will make sure to play them for the Saturday drawing.

How Does This Jackpot Compare

This is the 7th largest Powerball jackpot in history. It’s the 16th largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history when you combine the numbers from the Mega Millions Lottery. It’s a lot of money. I can not even begin to put together a list of things I would do with the money. My loved ones and friends would be set. But I would also do some great things for Shreveport.

What Projects in Shreveport Would I Fund with Powerball Winnings

My top priority would be a state of the art domestic violence shelter. This place would be secure and would be loaded with amenities like a gym, child care center, a homeschooling center, a cafeteria and even a pool.

Another priority for me would be the multi-sports complex for Caddo Parish. I would pay for half the cost of this facility, but I want to make sure it includes an Olympic sized pool.

Those would be a couple of my goals. I am sure there will be others, but I will have a team to help evaluate the needs in our community.
