Northern California player wins six-figure Powerball prize. Where was ticket sold?

A Powerball ticket sold in California fell just one number short of winning the $375 million jackpot, lottery officials said.

Instead, the lucky ticket won $781,679.

The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing Wednesday, July 1, the California State Lottery said.

A second ticket sold in California won $59,442.

Where was winning Powerball ticket sold in California?

The lucky six-figure ticket was sold at a Shell station at 101 Bernal Ave. in San Jose, lottery officials said.

The other big winner was sold at Circle 1 Food Store at 2371 University Ave. in Riverside.

What were winning numbers in Wednesday’s drawing?

The winning numbers were 2, 6, 26, 39 and 68 with a Powerball of 6.

The Power Play multiplier was 2x.

What is the Powerball jackpot up to now?

Nobody won the jackpot, which now rises to an estimated $396 million, with a cash value of about $180.2 million, for the next drawing Saturday, July 4, the national Powerball site said.

Nearly 470,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said. There were nearly 60,000 winners in California.

The Powerball jackpot was last won May 2, when players from Florida and Texas hit the $20 million jackpot.

To score a jackpot in Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

Powerball drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time and can be streamed online.

The next drawing will be Saturday, July 4.
