National Lottery operator Allwyn issues statement after Lotto draw halted

The operator of the National Lottery has apologised after tonight’s draw was halted because of a technical issue.

Tonight’s draw was a quadruple rollover, which meant there was a jackpot of ÂŁ10.5m up for grabs. The draw got underway at 8pm as normal but had to be halted after the six numbers were drawn – but not the bonus ball. The numbers that were drawn before the draw was halted were 40, 28, 4, 59, 9, and 42.

A spokesman for operator Allwyn said: “Due to the bonus ball not dropping during tonight’s Lotto draw, we have paused the draw. It will resume as soon as possible with an alternative draw machine and under the supervision of an independent adjudicator.

“We expect to complete tonight’s Lotto draw and publish the verified results on national-lottery.co.uk later this evening and apologise for the delay.”

The Thunderball draw was delayed by around 15 minutes before those numbers were drawn. They were 9, 11, 13, 28, 34 and the Thunderball 13.

A quadruple rollover means no one has matched all the numbers in the past four games. If no one manages to win again tonight, it will be a Must Be Won draw on Wednesday night, October 29.

If no one wins the jackpot in that draw there will be a rolldown with he prize money shared by those matching two or more numbers.
