‘My family didn’t believe me at first’: Brighton man wins Euromillions draw

The family man from Brighton, who has chosen to remain anonymous, scooped £77,954.20 after matching five main numbers in the EuroMillions draw on Friday 17 July 2026.

The winner, who is in his forties, always plays by direct debit and tops up his account to play a few extra games when he’s feeling lucky.

The Brighton winner said: “It’s just brilliant! My family didn’t believe me at first, because we usually only win a few pounds, but after a bit of convincing, they’re all excited and really looking forward to enjoying the summer.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to treat everyone and put something away for the future too.”

He plans to celebrate with a family meal, top up his ISAs, and plan for the future.

Abbie Suddick, winners’ advisor at Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, congratulated him on his win.

Ms Suddick said: “Congratulations to our lucky Brighton winner.

“A cheeky top-up when he was feeling lucky has turned into a fantastic near-£78,000 win!

“We’re delighted he can treat the family and plan for the future, and we wish them all a wonderful summer together.”

Tickets can be bought online, through the National Lottery app or from retailers, with online players automatically notified of any wins.

The Brighton man is the latest local player to scoop a major National Lottery prize, following a number of million-pound wins reported in the area this year.

According to Allwyn, around £33 million from National Lottery ticket sales goes to projects and organisations across the UK each week.

These funds, which are distributed by independent bodies, support a wide range of initiatives, including arts and sport, community groups, and the preservation of historic landmarks.

Players must be aged 18 or over to take part and are encouraged to play responsibly.
