Morecambe mums who set up support group for other parents awarded £15k funding through National Lottery
A community group set up last year aimed at supporting parents has been awarded National Lottery money to help continue its work.
Mums Becky Ingle and Sam Hair set up Calm Together, a group based in Morecambe which supports parents and families of children with additional needs, last year.
Becky and Sam, who are both teaching assistants at Trumacar Primary School, are the faces behind the group, along with Becky’s sister Sophie, who works on the admin side.
They aim to share strategies, resources and their own personal experiences to help other parents in the Lancaster and Morecambe area.

They want to provide a supportive space for families navigating emotional regulation and challenging behaviour at home.
They provide practical support and guidance for parents, resources for navigating SEND and inclusion, a listening ear from people who understand, and collaboration with local primary schools.
The group recently found out they had been successful in their application for funding from the National Lottery community fund, to the tune of £14,800.
This followed the team sending a lengthy letter and application, which focused on what they want to do for the community.
Becky said: “With the grant we have been able to secure our office space that is neurodivergent friendly, it’s a neutral space where we can offer interventions away from the school environment.
“We want to be able to offer free support with three and four-year-olds, and we are going to be doing many peer support groups.”
