Community group wins big with almost £200k from National Lottery

@The Hub Ross-on-Wye has received the grant to deliver its Building a Supportive Community in Ross-on-Wye project, aimed at reducing social isolation and helping individuals feel connected and valued.

The funding, which will be spread over three years, is expected to support more than 250 people annually through activities, peer support, and community engagement programmes.

Rachel Hankins, chair of trustees at @The Hub Ross-on-Wye, said: “This funding from The National Lottery is a significant investment in our community and the people we support every day.

“It will enable us to continue creating a safe, welcoming place where people who have experienced disadvantage or isolation can build friendships, develop confidence and become active members of our community.”

The project aims to help individuals feel less isolated, more confident, and better supported by their community.

It will also invest in staff and volunteers, many of whom use their own lived experiences to guide and support others.

In addition to individual support, the scheme seeks to encourage wider community understanding and acceptance, and to involve more residents in supporting those who are most vulnerable.

@The Hub also plans to upgrade how it measures the impact of its work to ensure that even the quietest voices are heard and considered in its development.

The organisation publicly thanked National Lottery players for making the funding possible, and for contributing to stronger, more connected communities across the UK.
