In less than a month, the Sunshine State has seen a big jackpot winner for Mega Millions and the Florida Lotto along with several second-tier wins for Powerball.
Here’s a recap and what we know about the winners, retailers and how long to claim before a ticket expires.
In the Tuesday, July 28, 2026, $800 million Mega Millions drawing, Florida Lottery officials reported the winner bought a ticket from a gas station in Bradenton, Florida, near the Tampa area. It was worth $803 million, the grand total after final ticket sales were factored in.
Wawa, 14510 State Road 70 E, Bradenton, Florida, sold the winning ticket and received a lottery commission. The winning numbers for the Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, were 34-48-49-59-70 and the Mega Ball was 12. The winner can choose between the advertised $800 million annuity or an estimated $344.2 million cash option before taxes, Mega Millions and Florida Lottery officials state.
As of Tuesday, Aug. 18, the Florida Lottery states the jackpot is “unclaimed at this time.”
If the winner wants a one-time lump sum from the Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Mega Millions drawing for $800 million, they’ll have to move fast: To claim a single-payment cash option, a winner has the first 60 days after the applicable draw date to claim it. So to claim the cash, the $800 million Mega Millions winner has until Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, or 60 days from Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Prizes from the Florida Lottery must be claimed within 180 days (six months) from the date of the drawing. Rules for cash or annuity vary in different states. For the annual payments, the $800 million Mega Millions winner has until Sunday, Jan. 24, 2027, or 180 days from Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
Who won $6 million Florida Lotto jackpot on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026?
In the Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, $6 million Florida Lotto drawing, state lottery officials reported the winner bought a ticket from a gas station in Lakeland, Florida.
3B’s Sunoco, 5565 New Tampa Highway, Lakeland, Florida, sold the quick pick lotto ticket and received a lottery commission. On Saturday, Aug. 8, the Florida Lottery reported that the ticket had been claimed, and the Lakeland, Florida, winner will remain anonymous for a short time (see below). The winner chose a one-time lump sum cash option of $3,251,148, the Florida Lottery site states.
Who won $1 million prize in Florida from Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, Powerball drawing?
In the $856 million Powerball drawing on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, no one won the big prize, but there were a few second-tier wins. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, winning Powerball numbers were 5-9-35-54-63 and the Powerball was 7. Power Play was 3x. A Florida ticket and three others, those purchased in Arizona, Michigan and New York, matched 5 for a $1 million prize. Even luckier was a ticket bought in Texas that matched 5 plus the Power Play for a $2 million prize.
Circle K, 1026 Walt Williams Road, Lakeland, Florida, sold the second-tier Powerball ticket worth $1 million. The Lakeland, Florida, ticket-holder claimed a one-time lump sum cash prize by Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, a few days after the Powerball drawing and a week after the Florida Lotto pick. Like the Florida Lotto winner, there will be a brief period of anonymity.
Who won $1 billion Powerball jackpot in Illinois and $1 million in Florida on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026?
Soon after the 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, Powerball drawing for $1 billion, lottery officials noted online that a winner in Illinois matched all the numbers. On Thursday, Aug. 13, the Illinois Lottery revealed the winning ticket was purchased in Quincy, Illinois, and that final ticket sales had pushed the total to a whopping $1.04 billion.

However, it wasn’t all bad news, particularly in Florida: In addition to the grand prize, there were several other second-tier winning tickets in the Wednesday, Aug. 12, Powerball drawing. A Florida ticket was one of four, joining those bought in Arizona, California and North Carolina, that matched 5 for $1 million prizes. A bigger win went to a Massachusetts ticket which matched 5 plus the Power Play for a $2 million prize.
The $1 million Florida winner in the Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, Powerball drawing for $1.04 billion bought their ticket from Racetrac, 2335 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, Florida. The ticketholder claimed the cash option for their quick pick ticket days later, Florida Lottery records show, and lives in Cape Coral, Florida.
In the $35 million Powerball drawing on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, the grand prize rolled over, but a ticket purchased in Florida matched 5 for a $1 million prize. Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, winning numbers were 8-15-25-49-65 and the Powerball was 22. Power Play was 4x. As of Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, the Florida Lottery site online does not state where in Florida the $1 million second-tier prize was sold or whether it was claimed. The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, grows to $48 million, with a cash option of $20.8 million.
Does Florida Lottery publish info on winners? Can you stay anonymous if you win lottery in Florida?
According to Florida Lottery’s website, winners cannot remain anonymous: “Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide records containing information such as the winner’s name, city of residence, game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information.”
However, the site states the “names of lottery winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or greater will be temporarily exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed, unless otherwise waived by the winner.”
Lottery experts and lawyers have said there are ways to remain anonymous if you win.
