Mega Millions luck strikes the Phoenix area with $3 million ticket

BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — Lady Luck was on the side twice for the person who bought a winning Mega Millions ticket in the Valley Tuesday.

While no one won the jackpot, a $3 million-winning ticket was sold at the Fry’s Marketplace at Jackrabbit Trail and Indian School Road. Lottery officials said the ticket has not been claimed as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The player matched five numbers for the $1 million prize, and since they played the three-times multiplier, it was increased to $3 million.

Tuesday’s winning numbers were 25, 37, 59, 68, 70 and Mega Ball number 10.

Another Mega Millions $1 million-winning ticket was sold in California. It had the two-times multiplier.

The Mega Millions multipliers are randomly assigned when the ticket is bought and are applied to all non-jackpot prizes. The multipliers range from two times to 10 times.

The odds of matching the five numbers in the white balls are one in 290,472,336.

Since no one won the jackpot, it has increased to an estimated $743 million, with a cash option of $323.4 million. The next drawing is Friday.
