The Mega Millions jackpot continues to grow, hitting $743 million after Tuesday’s drawing.
The cash option for the current jackpot is $323.4 million, and the current jackpot amount is the 10th-largest jackpot amount in Mega Millions history, according to the game’s website.
As the jackpot climbs, several participating states and U.S. jurisdictions still have never had a jackpot winner.
Connecticut is one of 19 jurisdictions that have never had a resident win the Mega Millions jackpot, alongside Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming. Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands have also never had a jackpot winner.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is 1 in 290,472,336, according to the Mega Millions website.
Tickets for the Mega Millions game start at $5, and 5,837 winning tickets were produced in Connecticut for Tuesday’s drawing.
To play Mega Millions, players must pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers — five different numbers from 1 to 70 (the white balls) and one number from 1 to 24 (the gold Mega Ball) — or select Easy Pick/Quick Pick. Players win the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers in a drawing. In the event of multiple jackpot winners, the jackpot prize will be shared.
Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday.
