Lottery winner got winning numbers 30 years ago from fortune teller
About 30 years ago, Stephen Huesgen received a a set of lucky numbers from a fortune-telling machine while in Las Vegas.
The Fraser resident said he’s been playing those same numbers in the lottery ever since.
His consistency recently paid off in a big way as Huesgen learned he won a $1 million Powerball — three decades later.
“About 30 years ago, I was in Las Vegas and got a fortune from a Zoltar machine,” Huesgen said in a Michigan Lottery news release. “On my fortune, there was a set of lucky numbers, so I have been playing those numbers on lottery games ever since.
Huesgen, 56, matched the five white balls — 24-29-32-49-63 — in the April 22 drawing to win $1 million. He purchased the winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.
“The morning after the Powerball drawing, I saw an email from the Lottery, which is when I found out I’d won a $1 million Powerball prize. I yelled to my wife: ‘Is this real?’ I don’t think this is going to fully hit me until I cash the check,” he said.
With his winnings, Huesgen said plans to pay off his house and car, take a vacation, and save for retirement.
Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com.
