The Irish player came agonisingly close to scooping the jaw-dropping €160 million jackpot, but still managed to bag a life-changing prize
Irish EuroMillions players are being urged to check their tickets after one lucky punter scooped a life-changing prize in Friday night’s draw.
Last night’s EuroMillions draw produced a dramatic near miss for one Irish player, who came within touching distance of the staggering €160,606,603 jackpot.
The Irish punter was just a single number away from becoming the country’s newest multi-millionaire after they matched all five main numbers and one Lucky Star in Friday’s main EuroMillions.
While the player came agonisingly close to bagging the jaw-dropping €160m jackpot, they still have plenty of reason to celebrate as they scooped the 5 + 1 Star prize worth a staggering €365,515.
The National Lottery has now confirmed that the winning ticket was purchased on Wednesday (June 3) by an online player from Co Cork.
Lotto bosses have said that a notification has now been sent to the winner advising them to log in and check their National Lottery account.
The winning numbers in the Friday, June 5, draw were: 05, 06, 16, 17, 49 and Lucky Stars 02, 12.
The Cork punter isn’t the only Irish EuroMillions player celebrating a huge win as a ticketholder from Co Wicklow also won big in Friday night’s draw.
The Wicklow player matched five numbers in the main draw to win €21,357. The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on Thursday, at Tesco, Wexford Road, Arklow, Co. Wicklow.
National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr had the following advice for players: “While over 69,000 players in Ireland won prizes across the EuroMillions and Plus games on Friday night, it was an online player in Cork and a Wicklow player who won the biggest prizes of the night.
“Both winners who have tickets worth €365,515 and €21,357 are advised to contact the Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to visit the Winners Room in Lottery Headquarters to collect their prizes.”
Meanwhile, as there was no winner of the staggering €160,606,603 on offer, Tuesday’s jackpot is now set to roll towards an estimated €175 million.
Players dreaming of being the next big EuroMillions winner in Ireland are reminded that tickets can be purchased in-store, through the app or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7.30 cut-off time for sales on Tuesday evening.
