Grovetown lottery player wins $1 million in second-chance drawing

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A Grovetown resident is starting 2026 off $1 million richer.

According to Georgia Lottery officials, they’re one of three winners of $1 million in the Georgia Millionaire second-chance drawing.

The winners were announced as the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Day.

Other winners include residents of College Park and Lawrenceville.

“Congratulations to the Georgia Lottery’s first millionaires of 2026,” said Georgia Lottery President and CEO Gretchen Corbin. “What an exciting start to the new year. We look forward to celebrating many more winners and special moments as we work diligently throughout the year to maximize revenues for HOPE and Pre-K.”

Georgia Millionaire is a first-of-its-kind scratcher with $10,000 instant cash prizes, plus a special second-chance drawing with three lucky players announced as $1 million winners on New Year’s Day.

For a chance to win one of the $1 million prizes, players could enter non-winning Georgia Millionaire tickets into the drawing.
