EuroMillions lottery winner dies in suspected hit-and-run | ITV News

A EuroMillions winner from Essex has died in a suspected hit-and-run after being knocked off his bicycle.

Anthony Canty from Maldon won £1m in the draw in 2020, shortly after he had saved the life of a policeman by giving him CPR when he collapsed on a bus.

Mr Canty was cycling in Maldon Road, Tiptree, when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle on the morning of Thursday 21 May. He died in hospital four days later.

Essex Police said an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink or drugs and failing to stop.

He remains under investigation and police enquiries continue.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw or has footage of a black Ford KA car being driven in the area around the time of the collision.
