East Sussex man wins £1m in The New Lotto Game’s Second Round

A retired NHS worker from East Sussex has won £1,000,000 on The National Lottery’s new Lotto format, matching five Main Numbers and the Bonus Ball on Saturday, June 13 2026 in the second round.

The man in his 60s from Brighton popped into his local retailer to do some shopping and decided to buy two Lucky Dips for the new Lotto game.

Launched earlier this month, new Lotto gives players two chances to win from a single £2 line with a new two-round format.

He explained that usually he would play his own special numbers but, on this occasion, decided to try his luck. With the win, he and his family now plan to move into a new house with a garden, having downsized to a flat in recent years.

Speaking about his win, he said: “We scanned our ticket using The National Lottery app on Sunday morning and it pinged saying we had won. We could not believe our eyes.

“Subsequently, finding out we won on the second game of the new Lotto draw… it’s incredible how lucky we are.”

Liz Styles, Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, congratulated the Brighton-based prize winner.

She said: “Congratulations to our lucky Brighton winner.

“What a lucky decision it was to play a Lucky Dip for the new Lotto draw. It’s just amazing to think he won the £1M on the second round. So, if Lotto hadn’t changed to now have two separate sets of numbers drawn every Wednesday and Saturday, he wouldn’t now be a millionaire.

“We wish him and his family all the best with their house purchase.”
