Cary woman scratches off $100,000 lottery win

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) — A Cary woman gambled on a $30 scratch-off ticket and won big.

Ruth O’Neal Allen of Cary won a $100,000 top prize.

Allen bought her lucky Cash Payday ticket from Trinity Park Family Fare on West Main Street in Durham.

She went to lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Thursday to claim her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $72,018.

The $100,000 Cash Payday game debuted in March with 80 $100,000 top prizes. Sixty-six $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
