California player wins five-figure Powerball prize as jackpot tops $560 million

A Powerball ticket sold in California fell just one number short of winning the $544 million jackpot, lottery officials said.

Instead, the lucky ticket won $37,339.

The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Monday, July 20, the California State Lottery said.

The lucky ticket was sold at Amplify at 1935 S. Del Mar Ave. in San Gabriel, lottery officials said.
