Texas Lottery officials are searching for the owner of a $78 million winning ticket before the prize expires.

The lucky winner bought the ticket in Brownsville, Texas back in November, but the jackpot has not been claimed and will expire May. 14, the Texas Lottery said in an April 9 statement.

The winning ticket was purchased at Gordon’s Bait & Tackle, located at 7066 Padre Island Highway, in Brownsville, Texas. The player selected numbers that matched all six of the numbers drawn during the Nov. 15 drawing: 7-17-23-28-39-48.

“The cash value option was selected at the time of purchase and a claimant would receive $43,757,223.10 before taxes,” the news release said.

To claim the prize, the ticket holder must call the Texas Lottery to make an appointment for processing and thenpresent the ticket in person for validation at Texas Lottery headquarters, located at 1801 Congress Ave., inAustin, by 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, May 14.

“A ticket holder forfeits any claim to a prize for a draw game after the expiration of the 180th day following the drawdate.,” officials said. “The deadline may be extended for a period of time for certain eligible military personnel.”

Unclaimed prizes revert back to the state for programs authorized by the Texas Legislature, the news release noted.
