Unclaimed Lottery Prize

$1M Powerball lotto prize still unclaimed in NYC; winner has less than a month to come forward

If you purchased a lotto ticket in Manhattan last summer and never checked your numbers, you could be $1 million richer.

The New York Lottery has announced that a second-place Powerball ticket from the Aug. 6, 2025 drawing is still unclaimed — and the lucky player now has less than a month until the prize expires.

The winning ticket, which was sold at Diamond News, Inc., located at 631 Second Ave., matched all five numbers — 15-27-43-45-53 — but not the Powerball number 09. According to the NY Lotto website, the second prize is won if the first five numbers match without the Powerball.

Under New York Lottery rules, prizes may be claimed up to one year after the drawing date. That means the ticket holder has until Aug. 6, 2026, to claim the winnings.

The lottery advises whoever holds the winning ticket to sign the back of it and put it in a safe place. Winners can contact the New York Lottery at 518-388-3370 or visit www.nylottery.ny.gov for information on how to claim the prize.
