National Lottery operator Allwyn previously announced the change to its main Lotto draw, alongside a new UK version of Powerball, a game previously only available in the US.

Tonight’s Lotto game will see a new two-round format every draw, which will give players two chances to win.

This new structure will see two sets of six main balls and a bonus ball drawn using two separate draw machines.

The change means a player could win in round one, round two, or both rounds, all from a single Lotto line.

Still priced at £2 per line, the new format will automatically enter players into two separate rounds every draw night.

There will be no change to the way people play as they’ll still pick six numbers from 59 balls.

Allwyn said the change improves players’ chances of winning any prize from one in 9.3 to one in 4.9.

It is expected to more than double the annual number of Lotto millionaires from around 140 to around 345.

Tickets for the first ever draw of this new Lotto game are available until 7.30pm tonight (Wednesday, June 10).

The Lotto draws will continue to take place at around 8pm every Saturday and Wednesday.

Lotto jackpots will begin at £2million and can roll over up to five times before a must-be-won event on the sixth consecutive draw.

Ticket holders will still win a prize when they match two or more main numbers.

Players can become millionaires through a guaranteed £1million-plus jackpot for matching six main numbers or a £1million fixed prize for anyone matching five main numbers plus the bonus ball.

The jackpot will be shared across both rounds, while all other prize tiers will continue to offer fixed cash prizes, paid per round.

The Lotto HotPicks add-on game has also moved to the new two-round format, with the price remaining at £1.
