$1M unclaimed Powerball ticket to expire in Texas next month

A $1 million winning Powerball ticket was sold in Austin on February 2. Yet in five months, no one has come forward to claim the prize, prompting the Texas Lottery to warn that the jackpot will expire in one month if the ticket is not validated by August 1, according to a news release.

The winning ticket was sold at the Circle K at 6107 W. Parmer Lane, Austin, TX 78729 and matched all five numbers (3-8-31-60-65), only missing out on the Powerball to secure an even higher jackpot. The Texas Lottery shared that ticket holders forfeit any prizes after the 180th day following any drawing. The $1 million winner can claim their ticket in person at a Texas Lottery claim center but must do so by 5 p.m. Friday, July 31, according to the release. Additionally, the winner can validate their prize by mailing the ticket to the Austin claim center; they just have to ensure the mail is postmarked on or before August 1 to avoid expiration.

This year, a $78 million Lotto Texas winning ticket was claimed by a South Dakota trust just six days before it was set to expire. Back in 2024, a $2 million Powerball ticket, also sold in Austin, was finally claimed 12 days before it was going to expire. So, if you’re out there holding a $1 million Powerball ticket, don’t be like these folks. Come out and get your money.
