Winning $1 million Powerball ticket sold in Allen

While it may seem like a random number combination, a lucky lottery ticket buyer in North Texas won a $1 million Powerball prize over the weekend, with those numbers on the winning ticket.

The ticket, which was purchased from a Shell gas station in Allen, matched five numbers pulled during Saturday’s Powerball drawing, but didn’t have the remaining Powerball number to claim the full jackpot.  

There were, however, five other winning tickets from the weekend drawing, including four $1 million tickets sold in California and Maryland, and one ticket in Virginia that won $2 million. 

The Powerball game has handed out massive jackpots in the past, including a $2.040 billion prize in California in Nov. of 2022, and a $1.817 billion prize that was won in Arkansas in December 2025.

The current jackpot prize of $707 million is still available. To win the grand prize, the winning ticket must match five numbers and the Powerball. 

As of Aug. 3, the estimated annuitized jackpot increased to $748 million with an estimated cash payout of $325.1 million. 

The $1 million prize has not yet been claimed by the winner, according to Steve Helm, Texas Lottery media and public affairs assistant director. When the prize is claimed, Texas Lottery will publish more details on the winning ticket and the retailer that sold it. 

Powerball tickets cost $2 and are sold at gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores and other approved locations. Purchasers are prompted to select five numbers from 1 to 69, and one powerball number from 1 to 26, or select “Quick Pick” to have the terminal pick the numbers instead.

Powerball drawings are broadcast every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evening at 10:12 p.m., according to the Texas Lottery website.
