Winning $1 million Lotto ticket sold at New Lenox gas station

A winning Lotto ticket worth $1 million was sold at a New Lenox gas station in the Saturday, Aug. 8 drawing, the Illinois Lottery said.

The ticket, purchased at Gas N Wash at 1951 E. Laraway Road, matched all six numbers in the Lotto Million 2 drawing — 11-17-22-26-36-45 — to win the game’s $1 million prize, according to the release. The ticket also won an additional $2 for matching two of six numbers on another line of play.

The lottery said the win marks the third major Lotto prize in just over a week, following a $1 million win on Aug. 3 and a $10.25 million jackpot on Aug. 1.

As a result of selling the winning ticket, Gas N Wash will receive a $10,000 selling bonus — 1% of the total prize amount, the release said.

The winner has one year from the date of the drawing to claim the prize, according to the lottery. The Illinois Lottery encourages the winner to write their name on the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until they are ready to claim it.

The lottery said that so far this year, Illinois Lottery players have claimed nearly 4 million winning Lotto tickets, with total prizes exceeding $45.7 million.

Lotto is an Illinois-only game played three times a week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, the release said. Tickets can be purchased in-store, online or on the Illinois Lottery app.

The Illinois Lottery, founded in 1974, has contributed over $26 billion to the state’s Common School Fund in support of K-12 public education in Illinois since 1985, according to the release.
