Why becoming a millionaire just got easier
It just got easier to become a millionaire, as Aussies continue to battle with living costs.
While a major lotto win might typically feel like a long shot, a new addition to the lottery market is significantly changing the odds for hopeful punters.
Launching next Tuesday, FutureBall, owned and operated by The Lottery Office, is being dubbed as Australia’s “most winnable” million-dollar draw ever.
“When you win FutureBall, you never have to share the spotlight or your $1 million prize,” Lottery Office CEO Jaclyn Wood told news.com.au.
The game offers Division 1 odds of 1 in 4,034,712, making the top prize more than twice as favourable compared to similar domestic lotteries on the market.
Ms Wood said the new format was designed to “fundamentally rethink how lotteries are structured”, ensuring the life-altering cash doesn’t get diluted.
“Too often, big wins are divided among multiple players, reducing their impact,” she said.
Unlike traditional lotteries that feature a massive, rolling jackpot, FutureBall guarantees a flat Division 1 prize of $1 million for every draw.
Because players are issued unique number combinations, that top prize is never split among multiple winners.
“It’s a wonderful thing knowing the full sum belongs to a single player. [That’s] one million dollars for one lucky winner,” Ms Wood shared.
With draws taking place every Tuesday and Friday, the game has the mathematical potential to create up to 104 millionaires each year.
And at 95 cents per game, with a minimum entry of $4.75 for five chances, a play for the top prize is cheaper than a standard cup of coffee.
For many young Australians currently struggling to enter the property market, a $1 million win could see them secure a future of financial freedom.
“Winning felt like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders,” said a 29-year-old Brisbane resident who took home $1.89 million in a Lottery Office draw last year.
“I could suddenly afford a home which was feeling increasingly unlikely with the state of the market.”
The recent winner said the windfall completely changed their trajectory and offered a massive sense of relief.
“It has given me the most incredible feeling of freedom and the power to spend my life chasing joy.”
FutureBall will hold its first draw on Tuesday, April 21.
