US Consulate in Casablanca confirms continuation of 2027 lottery Visa program

The U.S. Consulate General in Casablanca confirmed that the U.S. Department of State will proceed with the 2027 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Program, as required by law.

The statement came in response to questions from Hespress AR, clarifying widespread speculation on social media about a possible cancellation of the lottery after the usual registration announcement was delayed this October amid the ongoing U.S. government shutdown.

“The Diversity Visa (DV) program is established by statute, and the Department of State will continue to implement the program as required by law, ” the consulate said in written remarks to Hespress AR.

The mission also noted that this year “ there will be changes to the DV entry process,” adding that details and registration dates will be announced once available.

In September, the State Department introduced, for the first time in the program’s history, a $1 processing fee for electronic registration.

The consulate further confirmed that it “will continue providing visa services during the ongoing government shutdown, in line with guidance from the U.S. government.”
