Two Jackpot Winners + 89 Millionaires: Powerball’s Wildest Drawing In Years

Although Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot was nowhere near the highest, the drawing was notable for producing an unusually large number of additional big winners, with dozens becoming millionaires overnight.

The numbers drawn on April 29 were 03, 19, 35, 51, and 67, with a red Powerball number 15.

Two winning tickets matched all numbers in the Powerball drawing, splitting a $143.4 million jackpot, lottery officials said. The cash value of the jackpot was $65.2 million. The grand-prize-winning tickets were sold in Indiana and Kansas.

Another 89 Powerball players woke up as millionaires on Thursday, with 27 tickets winning $2 million prizes, and 62 tickets winning $1 million.

The $2 million winners matched all five white balls and included the Power Play option. Those tickets were sold across multiple states, including Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. Indiana and Louisiana each had five $2 million winners, while New Jersey had four and Oregon had three. Pennsylvania and Wisconsin each had two such winning tickets.

The 62 $1 million prize-winners matched all five white balls. Those tickets were sold in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Indiana and New Jersey each had 14 $1 million winners, while Louisiana had six, Kansas and Pennsylvania each had five, and Wisconsin had four. Illinois had three winners, and Nebraska had two.

None of the top-tier prize-winning tickets were sold in Texas.

A search of Powerball results over the past two years reveals that the number of $1 million and $2 million winners in a drawing typically ranges from zero to three, although some drawings have had as many as eight or nine winners at that level.

Other players won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000. Excluding the grand prize, a total of $118,542, 480 will be paid to 361,663 winners in this drawing.

The top ten highest Powerball jackpots in the history of the game range from $758.7 million to $2.040 billion.

After Wednesday’s grand prize win, the annuitized jackpot for the next Powerball drawing was reset to an estimated $20 million, with a cash value of $9,100,000.
