Two CT Lottery players win combined total of over $186K from Cash 5, scratch-off games

Two Connecticut Lottery players claimed major prizes to kick off May, winning a combined total of $186,553.

One Connecticut Lottery player from New Britain claimed $100,000 from a game of 50X The Cash. The player purchased the winning scratch-off ticket from Discount Tobacco & Novelty located at 130 East Main St. in New Britain.

The New Britain resident’s $100,000 win is the highest amount of money claimed by a Connecticut Lottery player so far in May.

Another Connecticut Lottery player, from Newington, claimed $86,553 on Monday. The player purchased their winning Cash 5 ticket from King Donut at 289 Main St. in Newington.

To play Cash 5, ticketholders choose five different numbers from 1 to 35 on a playslip or let the lottery terminal randomly pick their numbers. Players must match all five winning numbers in any order to win the top prize.

Each Cash 5 wager costs $1, with a “kicker” option that players can add for an additional $.50 per wager to increase their chances of winning, according to Connecticut Lottery.

Cash 5 drawings take place every day at 10:29 p.m.
